Whatsapp and WHO launch a chatbot to answer public questions about COVID-19.

Whatsapp and World Health Organisation (WHO) has collaboraed to launch a chatbot as part of it’s effort to provide the public with accurate information about the corona virus.

This alliance sees a chatbot which will respond to public questions about corona virus.

To get started, simply text “Hi” to WHO’s health alert number +41 79 893 1892. The service will then automatically reply you with latest corona virus news.

Whatsapp and WHO are aiming to fight misleading information as a lot of false news are circulating on the internet about the spread of corona virus.

One of the misleading messages was, residents should drink hot soup to avoid the infections.

The chatbot is intended to spread accurate information throughout the world and also to differentiate between misleading news and accurate news.

The service will start in the English language for now and later spread to French, Arabic, Spanish, Russian and Chinese over coming weeks.

WhatsApp also expects the new initiative to provide government decision-makers with the latest figures and other relevant data to inform their actions.
